Damian Lillard says new shoes are not his way of trolling Oklahoma City Thunder

Adidas releases a new Damian Lillard shoe that seems to trump the Oklahoma City Thunder. But Lillard said that was not his intention, nor was the design of the shoe his decision.

The color of the shoe is the blue and orange color of the Thunder, and the heel features Lillard’s statistical line from one of the most memorable games of his career: Game 5 of the first round NBA playoff series in 2019 between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Thunder.

During that game, Lillard scored 50 points and had seven rebounds and six assists. Lillard scored a try that won the game when the time in Game 5 expired to give the Blazers a 118-115 game and series victory, and then famously waved goodbye to the Thunder before being tampered with by teammates.

Many on social media responded to the shoe by calling it a troll from the Thunder. However, Lillard said Sunday night that the shoe is merely a variant that Adidas created to honor 50-point matches of their players and that other similar shoes will be released for other Adidas players such as James Harden and Derrick Rose.

“For me, they picked the OKC game,” Lillard said following the Trail Blazers’ 116-113 victory over the New York Knicks.

Lillard said he did not make the choice.

“I think I had other games to choose from,” Lillard said. ‘I’m ready to let go of the moment, so I think I would like it to be a different game, because I do not want it to come down, because I’m only living in the moment of two years. ago. It was clearly a great moment, but that’s what it’s. ‘
