Dallas will distribute 5,000 COVID-19 vaccines at the conference center

The city of Dallas receives its own award of COVID-19 vaccine shots to vaccinate residents at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center next week.

Until now, city and county officials have been working together to distribute vaccines only at Fair Park. The city of Dallas has also previously received 2,000 doses to vaccinate its first responder.

Next week, Texas will directly supply 5,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to city residents.

“I am excited and ready to get these extremely effective, life-saving vaccines out to the public,” Eric Johnson said. “Like I said, the city of Dallas is ready to help the state take its vaccination efforts to the next level. We will do so fairly, effectively and without political influence.”

The vaccines are being distributed by Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics during an appointment-based transit process at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Additional sites may be added in the future.

Those interested in getting a vaccine should still register with the country.

Dallas plans to retrieve its list of eligible residents from the Dallas County registration database and will contact the people directly to make an appointment.

The new vaccination site will be open on weekdays and weekends from 10:00 to 19:00, subject to availability.
