Dallas County reports 9 coronavirus deaths, 416 new cases as vaccinations continue at record pace

Dallas County reported nine more COVID-19 deaths and 416 new cases of coronavirus on Monday.

The most recent victims were four Dallas residents, a woman in her 60s, a man in his 70s and two men in their 90s; two Irving residents, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 90s; a man from Carrollton in his 50s; A Grand Prairie woman in her 80s; and a Mesquite woman in her 50s.

Everyone except the Irving man had underlying high-risk health conditions.

District Judge Clay Jenkins said in a written statement that the doses of the vaccines are still being administered at a record rate.

“The waiting time for a vaccine is now over, and it’s all about registering and vaccinating your vaccine,” he said. “If you have already received your vaccine, encourage others to do the same.”

Of the new cases, 326 have been confirmed and 90 likely. The numbers bring the total case of the province to 294,350, including 254,215 confirmed and 40,135 likely. The death toll is 3,706.

Dallas County no longer reports coronavirus data on Sundays and instead reports two-day totals on Mondays.

The average number of new daily cases in the province for the past two weeks is 267. For the previous period of 14 days, the average was 264.

Health officials use hospitalizations, admissions for intensive care and emergency visits as key statistics to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the country. Due to a delay in reporting over the weekend, these numbers will be available on Tuesday.

According to the state, 811,593 people in Dallas County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 475,265 – 23.4% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

Texas

Across the country, another 1,660 cases were reported on Monday, including 1,613 new cases and 47 older cases recently reported by laboratories.

The state also reported eight COVID-19 deaths, which increased its toll to 48,219. State reporting of deaths has been reported by some provinces.

Of the new cases, 1,444 were confirmed and 169 probable. Of the older cases, all 47 have been confirmed.

The state’s case is now 2,819,529, including 2,423,630 confirmed and 395,899 likely.

There are 2,823 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 526 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Sunday, 3.4% of patients in the hospital region covering the D-FW area were COVID-19 patients – below the 15% threshold used by the state to define high hospitalizations.

The seven-day average positivity rate across the country for molecular tests, based on the date of collection of the test sample, was 5.6% on Sunday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 3.2%. A molecular test is considered more accurate and is sometimes also called a PCR test; an antigen test is also called a rapid test. Gov. Greg Abbott said a positive percentage of more than 10% is cause for concern.

According to the state, 9,294,198 people in Texas received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 5,721,979 – 25.5% of the state’s population 16 and older – were completely vaccinated.

Tarrant county

Tarrant County reported one death and 194 deaths Monday.

The latest victim was a Forest Hill man over 90 who was in high-risk health conditions.

Of the new cases, 104 were confirmed and 90 likely. That number brings the province’s case to 253,211, including 213,369 confirmed and 39,842 likely. The death toll is 3,357.

According to the province, 153 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.

According to the state, 537,183 people in Tarrant County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 375,825 – 23.2% of the country’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

Collin county

The state on Monday added 136 cases to the Collin County total. No additional deaths were reported.

Of the new cases, 84 were confirmed and 52 likely. The number brings the country’s case to 87,845, including 72,735 confirmed and 15,110 likely. The death toll is 805.

According to the province, 88 people are being admitted to hospital with the virus.

According to the state, 367,188 people in Collin County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 224,219 – 28% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

Denton county

Denton County reported 196 cases Monday. No additional deaths were reported.

The newly reported cases bring the province’s case to 72,779, of which 53,872 are confirmed and 18,907 are likely. The death toll is 476.

According to the province, 27 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.

According to the state, 251,550 people in Denton County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 178,274 – 25.6% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

The Texas Department of Public Health has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some provinces, new data is not reported every day.

The latest numbers are:

  • Rockwall County: 11,211 cases (9,135 confirmed and 2076 likely), 151 deaths.
  • Kaufman County: 15,591 cases (13,115 confirmed and 2,476 likely), 247 deaths.
  • Ellis County: 22,252 cases (18,649 confirmed and 3,603 probable), 309 deaths.
  • Johnson County: 19,429 cases (16,597 confirmed and 2,832 likely), 361 deaths.
