Dallas County reports 1,589 new cases of coronavirus, another 16 deaths

Dallas County on Tuesday reported 1589 new cases of coronavirus, as well as another 16 deaths due to COVID-19.

Eight of the youngest victims were Dallas residents: two men in their 50s, a man and a woman in their 60s, two women in their 70s and two women in their 80s.

The other victims were two men from Garland, one in his 70s and one in his 80s, who lived in a long-term care facility; two Grand Prairie men in their 80s; A Hutchins woman in her 60s; An Irving man in his 40s; A Mesquite woman in her 50s; and a Richardson woman in her 60s who lived in a long-term care facility.

Two of the women in their 60s, from Dallas and Richardson, did not have underlying health conditions that put them at a higher risk for COVID-19 complications, officials said.

District Judge Clay Jenkins said in a written statement that the latest medical modeling from researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center shows that Dallas County is expected to have approximately 2,700 new daily cases of COVID-19 by the end of January.

“We need to remain vigilant in our efforts to stop and slow the spread of this virus,” Jenkins said.

Of the new cases, 1,351 were confirmed and 238 probable.

The cases that have just been reported bring the province to 236 214 – 208 991 confirmed cases and 27 223 probable cases. The death toll stands at 1,887.

Health officials use hospitalizations, admissions to intensive care and visits to emergencies as key statistics to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the country. In the 24-hour period that ended Monday, 1,160 COVID-19 patients were in acute care in hospitals across the country. During the same period, 505 ER visits were for symptoms of the disease.

According to state data, 87,704 people in Dallas County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 15,021 were fully immunized.

Texas

Across the state, 9,476 cases were reported on Tuesday – 9,381 new and 95 older cases recently reported by laboratories.

The state also reported 310 COVID-19 deaths, which increased its toll to 32,394.

Of the new cases, 8,312 were confirmed and 1,069 likely. Of the older cases, 53 were confirmed and 42 likely.

The cases just reported bring the state to 2,135,028 – 1,872,614 confirmed cases and 262,414 probable cases.

There are 13,928 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 3,926 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Monday, 24.2% of patients in the hospital region treating the Dallas-Fort Worth area were COVID-19 patients – above the 15% threshold the state used to define high hospitalizations.

The seven-day average positivity rate across the country for molecular tests, based on the date of collection of the test sample, was 16.1% as of Monday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 9.8%. A molecular test is considered more accurate and is sometimes also called a PCR test; an antigen test is also called a rapid test. Gov. Greg Abbott said a positive rate of more than 10% is cause for concern.

According to state data, 1,181,483 people in Texas received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 177,193 were fully immunized.

Tarrant county

Tarrant County reported cases of coronavirus and 12 deaths on Tuesday, 1929.

The latest victims include five Arlington residents: two men in their 60s, two women in their 70s and a man in his 80s. The others were two Fort Worth residents, a woman in her 50s and a man in his 70s; A Bedford woman in her 80s; A Crowley woman in her 60s; A Hurst man in his 70s; A Richland Hills woman in her 80s; and a Sansom Park man in his 40s.

Ten of the victims had underlying high-risk health conditions, officials said.

Of the new cases, 1,841 were confirmed and 88 probable.

The newly reported cases bring the province to 197,447 – 171,001 confirmed cases and 26,446 probable cases. The death toll stands at 1,904.

According to the country, 1447 people were admitted to hospital with the virus on Monday.

According to state data, 62,773 people in Tarrant County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 5,925 were fully immunized.

Collin county

The state on Tuesday added 879 cases of coronavirus and nine deaths to the total number of Collin County.

No details about the latest victims were available.

Of the new cases, 794 were confirmed and 85 likely.

The newly reported cases total the province’s 64,721 – 56,146 confirmed cases and 8,575 probable cases. The death toll stands at 483.

According to the province, 522 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.

According to state data, 31,344 people in Collin County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 4,304 were fully immunized.

Denton county

Denton County on Tuesday reported 1,064 cases of coronavirus and eight deaths.

The most recent victims were a Corinthian man in his 50s, a Denton woman in her 70s living in Brinker Senior Care Center, a Lewisville man over 80 living in Cedar Crest, a Northlake woman parent as 80, a Pilot Point man in his 70s who lived in Pilot Point Care Center and three people who lived in Denton County – a woman in her 70s and a man and a woman over 80.

Of the new cases, 739 were confirmed and 325 likely.

The cases just reported amount to the province’s total of 47,336 – 38,212 confirmed cases and 9,124 probable cases. The death toll stands at 257.

According to the province, 204 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.

According to state data, 19,017 people in Denton County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 2,411 were fully immunized.

Other provinces

The Texas Department of Public Health has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some provinces, new data is not reported every day.

The latest numbers are:

  • Rockwall County: 8,222 cases (6,873 confirmed and 1,349 probable), 78 deaths.
  • Kaufman County: 11,450 cases (9,962 confirmed and 1,488 probable), 154 deaths.
  • Ellis County: 16,403 cases (14,457 confirmed and 1,946 probable), 201 deaths.
  • Johnson County: 14,435 cases (12,872 confirmed and 1,563 probable), 213 deaths.
