Dallas County reports 13 coronavirus deaths, 502 cases

Dallas County reported another 13 COVID-19 deaths and 502 new cases of coronavirus on Monday.

The youngest victims were mostly in their 60s or older. Six were men and seven were women, and all 13 had underlying high-risk health conditions.

Ten Dallas residents, two lived in Garland and one was from Grand Prairie.

County Judge Clay Jenkins urged residents to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

“We are racing against time and the virus to achieve herd immunity,” Jenkins said in a written statement.

Of the new cases, 394 were confirmed and 108 likely. The number brings the total case of the province to 296,045, including 255,407 confirmed and 40,638 likely. The death toll is 3,807.

Dallas County no longer reports new coronavirus data on Sundays and instead reports two-day totals on Mondays.

The average number of new daily cases in the province for the past two weeks is 263. For the previous period of 14 days, the average was 262.

Health officials use hospitalizations, admissions to intensive care and emergency visits as key statistics to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the country. Due to a delay in reporting over the weekend, these numbers will be available on Tuesday.

According to the state, 934,728 people in Dallas County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 556,059 – 27.4% of the population aged 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

Texas

Across the state, 1,199 more cases were reported Monday, including 1,178 new cases and 21 older cases recently reported by laboratories.

The state also reported nine COVID-19 deaths, which increased its toll to 48,620. The state’s death reports lag behind some provinces.

Of the new cases, 1,073 were confirmed and 105 likely. All 21 the older cases were confirmed.

The case of the state is now 2,842,763, including 2,440,986 confirmed and 401,777 probable.

There are 2,864 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 540 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Sunday, 3.5% of the patients in the hospital region treating the Dallas-Fort Worth area were COVID-19 patients – below the 15% threshold used by the state to define high hospitalizations.

The seven-day average positivity rate across the country for molecular tests, based on the date of sample collection, was 4.7% on Sunday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 2.1%. A molecular test is considered more accurate and is sometimes also called a PCR test; an antigen test is also called a rapid test. Gov. Greg Abbott said a positive rate of more than 10% is cause for concern.

According to the state, 10,140,180 people in Texas received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 6,524,433 – 29.1% of the state’s population 16 and older – were completely vaccinated.

Tarrant county

Tarrant County reported one death and 133 cases Monday.

The youngest victim was a woman from Fort Worth in her 80s who had a high-risk health condition.

Of the new cases, 120 were confirmed and 13 likely. That number brings the province’s case to 254,723, of which 214,449 are confirmed and 40,274 are likely. The death toll is 3,375.

According to the province, 152 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.

According to the state, 682,012 people in Tarrant County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 442,007 – 27.3% of the population aged 16 and over – were fully vaccinated.

Collin county

The state on Monday added 85 cases to the Collin County total. No additional deaths were reported.

Of the new cases, 80 have been confirmed and five likely. The number totals the province’s 88,563, including 73,211 confirmed and 15,352 likely. The death toll is 811.

According to the province, 83 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.

According to the state, 440,195 people in Collin County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 271,487 – 33.9% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

Denton county

Denton County reported 219 cases Monday. No additional deaths were reported.

The newly reported cases bring the province to 73,424, including 54,219 confirmed and 19,205 likely. The death toll is 479.

According to the province, 14 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.

According to the state, 339,873 people in Denton County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 220,505 – 31.6% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

The Texas Department of Health Services has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some provinces, new data is not reported every day.

The latest numbers are:

  • Rockwall County: 11,275 cases (9,166 confirmed and 2,109 likely), 152 deaths.
  • Kaufman County: 15,680 cases (13,172 confirmed and 2,508 probable), 252 deaths.
  • Ellis County: 22,368 cases (18,713 confirmed and 3,655 likely), 309 deaths.
  • Johnson County: 19,503 cases (16,639 confirmed and 2,864 probable), 364 deaths.
