According to the latest data published on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website on Thursday afternoon, one in five Americans has been fully vaccinated. A third of the population received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
The US currently administers an average of seven days of 3 million doses per day, as the daily number of cases remains at levels below the winter peak, but in line with the increase seen during the summer.
American part of the vaccinated population
More than 66 million Americans, or 20% of the population, are now fully vaccinated with one shot of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine or two shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. About a third of the population received at least one dose of vaccine.
One in four of those 18 and older is fully vaccinated, and according to CDC data, nearly 60% of those 65 and older are fully vaccinated.
US vaccine shots given
According to a report of 3.4 million vaccine shots given on Thursday, the seven-day average doses amount to 3 million per day.
US Covid Business
The number of new cases of coronavirus in the US is well below the January peak of about 250,000 new cases per day, but more in line with the numbers seen during the summer boom. In July, the average daily number of cases reached nearly 70,000.
The latest seven-day average of the new Covid-19 cases in the U.S. is 66,000, according to data reviewed by Johns Hopkins University.
US Covid deaths
According to Hopkins, the seven-day average deaths in Covid-19 in the U.S. are 978.
The nationwide trend in Covid deaths over the past few days has been affected by a massive release of about 1,800 deaths from Oklahoma. These deaths are currently all reported on April 7, 2021, although they may have occurred weeks or months earlier. The Oklahoma Department of Health has announced that the state is moving to guidelines for reporting data in accordance with CDC requirements, which is the cause of this increase.
Prior to this report, the daily Covid mortality rate in the US pulled down from the record levels seen in January.
