According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data, published Tuesday, the U.S. vaccination rate has lasted more than 3 million shots a day for two consecutive weeks.

The figure is based on an average of seven days of daily reported vaccinations and has dropped slightly over the past few days, from a high of 3.4 million reported shots per day on April 13 to just over 3 million on Tuesday.

About 40% of Americans received at least one shot, according to CDC data, and about 1 in 4 were fully vaccinated.

US vaccine shots given

About 1.8 million vaccines were administered in the U.S. on Tuesday, mostly reflecting the weekend’s vaccinations due to a backlog in reporting. Vaccination numbers on Mondays and Tuesdays are usually the lowest of the week.

The seven-day average of daily shots given, used to report the daily weekly fluctuations, is 3 million.

The slight decrease in daily rate may be due in part to the ongoing investigation into Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration advised countries earlier this month to suspend the use of J & J’s lap ‘out of caution’ after six women contracted a rare blood clotting disorder.

Although the J&J vaccine accounts for less than 4% of the 213 million total vaccines administered to date in the US, it averages nearly 425,000 reported shots per peak in mid-April.

Government officials said the country has enough stock of Pfizer and Modern vaccines to maintain a rate of 3 million shots a day.

American part of the vaccinated population

More than 133 million people, or 40.1% of the U.S. population, have received one dose or more of a Covid-19 vaccine. About one in four Americans is fully vaccinated.

Of those aged 65 and over, more than 80% are at least partially vaccinated and 65% are fully vaccinated.

Progress varies across the country. In one state, New Hampshire, more than half of the residents got at least one stab, and Connecticut, Maine and Massachusetts are on track to achieve the 50% mark in the coming days.

More than 40% of residents are at least partially vaccinated in 24 states and Washington, DC

In Mississippi and Alabama, only 30% of residents got a chance, and that’s 31% in Louisiana and 32% in Tennessee.

US Covid business

The US reports an average of 63,800 daily new infections, based on a weekly average of data detected by Johns Hopkins University. The level has been declining in recent days, but is higher than the latest low of 53,600 average daily cases recorded at the end of March.

US Covid deaths

About 700 daily deaths in Covid are reported in the U.S., based on a seven-day average Hopkins data, below the peak levels of about 3,400 per day in mid-January.

The total death toll nationwide since the start of the pandemic is more than 568,400.
