The Pennsylvania Department of Health said Monday that people who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer have to wear a face mask in certain indoor situations, but that they still have to wear it in public.
It points to a revision of the masked commission in Pennsylvania issued on November 17 and is based on revised guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.
According to the revised CDC guidelines, people who have been fully vaccinated can resume:
- Visit with fully vaccinated people without wearing masks or having social distance;
- Visit inexperienced people from a single household who are at low risk for COVID-19 complications without wearing masks or doing a social distance.
- People who are fully vaccinated also no longer need to be quarantined or tested if they are exposed to someone with COVID-19, as long as they have no symptoms.
Pennsylvania Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam said people who are fully vaccinated are “likely” less likely to spread COVID-19, but more research is needed into how long their protection lasts and how well the vaccine works. protect different strains. Therefore, ‘some preventative measures will apply to all people, regardless of their vaccination status,’ Beam said.
Beam said people who are fully vaccinated should continue to wear face masks in public and use social distance, avoid medium-sized and large gatherings and be tested if they experience symptoms.
Two doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are required to be fully vaccinated, and one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
