Cyberpunk 2077’s next patch will tame the fraudulent police

The construction of Night City continues while CD Project Red plans another patch for Cyberpunk 2077. Patch 1.2 is not yet available, but CDPR has now outlined some issues that it will address. There are quite a few annoyances on the list, from fraudulent response times from the police to misery with vehicles. They did not specify when patch 1.2 will be launched, but had previously planned to release it this month.

When Cyberpunk 2077 was launched, I saw many clips of Night City police magically appearing behind players, immediately after committing a crime. I know it’s the future and everything, but it seems a little comically effective. CDPR shows how the reaction times of the police to the patch will feel in this short cut.

This is an important step in addressing the behavior of the police in our game. This should reduce the problem of NPCs apprehending behind players’ backs and create the impression that it takes a while before the police arrive at the crime scene after the crime has been reported. We also added a “drone” unit to have the feel of the police assessed.

You can also see the rack drone at work in the clip.

You will also encounter fewer vehicle accidents after the update. According to CDPR, they have adapted the handling of vehicles, a problem that frequently appears in players with a keyboard, they say. “We’ve added a steering sensitivity slider to the Options menu. It slows down the steering speed for all vehicles and all input devices, without affecting the maximum turning radius.” You can also get your vehicle stuck more easily if you run into an obstacle.

The last time is the ability to double-tap a movement key to dodge, which apparently led to a number of players having to accidentally roll down from high places. You can see the rest of the details and more demonstration videos in CDPR’s post.

What CDPR did not specifically address was when this patch would actually begin. Due to the cyber attack on the studio’s infrastructure in February, they delayed patch 1.2 until the second half of March. It’s nuish, so we can probably expect it soon.
