Cyberpunk 2077 hotfix 1.12 should reduce the risk of malware attacks

CD Project Red released another hotfix for Cyberpunk 2077 Friday morning – even if it is very small.

Hotfix 1.12 is only available for PC gamers and fixes two major issues: ‘Fixed a bug override issue’ and ‘Removed / Replaced non-ASLR DLLs.’ As for patch notes, they are not very transparent or useful to the average consumer. So here’s what this patch actually is do.

The problem with the buffer override must stop Cyberpunk 2077 of severe memory leak problems, which may cause the game to use more resources than it should while on your computer. It’s unclear how, or if, most consumers will notice improvements to the overall gaming experience, but it certainly can not hurt.

The non-ASLR DLLs are a bit more complex. CD Projekt Red added official mod support to Cyberpunk 2077 at the end of January. But just a few days later, the studio tweeted about possible security issues which can be introduced along with mods. This means that players could potentially download mods or external savings that could give their real computer a real virus. Removing the non-ASLR DLLs should better protect players who want to improve it Cyberpunk 2077 experience with the help of the community while not endangering their device – and their personal information.

Hotfix 1.12 comes as part of CD Project Red’s roadmap to improve the game before free DLCs. But this is not the first time in the past month that CD Project Red has had to target a hotfix to issues introduced by a previous patch. Patch 1.1 offered some nice changes, but also introduced another game-breaking bug for players. CD Projekt Red quickly followed up hotfix.

Players should see another big patch, Patch 1.2, later this month.
