Carolyn Kaster / Associated Press 2020As the spread of vaccines across the Bay increases, eligible individuals can now register for a free coronavirus vaccine at some CVS sites, and vaccinations begin Friday.
CVS said the vaccine is offered for free with most insurance plans, or through a federal program for the uninsured. ‘As of Thursday, CVS said the pharmacies only vaccinate health workers and individuals aged 65 and older.
The pharmacy chain pushed back its previously announced start date of vaccination from Thursday to Friday to “ensure in-store availability”, the company announced on Monday.
The launch is part of a launch in more than a dozen states to distribute approximately 250,000 total doses through the federal government. About 81,900 doses will go to California.
Bay residents can check for availability and register for an appointment at CVS.com or via the CVS Pharmacy app. Persons without online access can call CVS Customer Service at 1-800-746-7287. CVS said that entrances will not be vaccinated.
