CT Coronavirus hospitalizations and positivity rate trend lower

CONNECTICUT – The state’s coronavirus positivity rate has risen very slightly in the data released by the Department of Public Health on Friday, but remains as low as since the first week in March.

An additional 1,062 cases of the coronavirus were confirmed, bringing the total to 329,062. With 46,768 tests reported, the daily positivity rate is now 2.27 percent.

Coronavirus-related deaths across the state rose by five on Thursday. The COVID-19 death toll in Connecticut now stands at 7,995.

Hospitalizations are below 500 in the latest report from DPH. The number of COVID-19 patients admitted to the hospital fell by 19 beds, bringing the total number in the state to 486.

Connecticut still ranks among the top three states in the country that have administered the most vaccines per capita. According to DPH, more than half of the state now had at least their first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
