After the judge sent the summit, the judge in the Chauvin trial dropped the lawmakers in general Monday following Waters’ comments.
“The jury is being sequestered, which is why he spoke to this, but I would expect him to weigh further once a verdict is handed down,” she added.
Several major cities across the country are supporting the public response to the ruling in the Chauvin case, which increases security and in some cases calls in the national guard as a precautionary measure.
The video of Floyd’s death caused massive protests this past summer. And while most of the protests remained peaceful, some deteriorated into riots, looting and clashes between law enforcers and protesters.
However, the president said there was “absolutely no justification” for rioting or violence.
“His position is that there should be room for peaceful protest,” Psaki said on Tuesday when asked about the public reaction to the Chauvin trial. “That will be his point of view, regardless of the outcome.”
