Cruz: Biden comments on Chauvin’s ruling as ‘grounds for wrongdoing’

Rep. During a rally for racial justice in Minnesota over the weekend, Maxine Waters (D-California) said that ‘we need to become more confrontational’ when we have to fight systemic racism in the police and demand justice for black people who are abused or killed by the police.

Republicans have expressed outrage in response to Waters’ remarks, and House House minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California) is planning to file a motion to censor Waters over her comments.

After the judge sent the summit, the judge in the Chauvin trial dropped the lawmakers in general Monday following Waters’ comments.

“I wish elected officials would stop talking about this case, especially in a way that is disrespectful to the rule of law and to the judiciary and our function,” Peter Cahill, District Judge in Hennepin County, said Monday. “If they want to give their opinion, they must do so … in a way that is consistent with their oath to the Constitution.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Tuesday that Biden was not trying to come before the verdict.

“The president has been keeping a close eye on the trial, as many Americans have done. He was also moved by his conversations with the family yesterday, “Psaki said during the daily information session.

“The jury is being sequestered, which is why he spoke to this, but I would expect him to weigh further once a verdict is handed down,” she added.

Several major cities across the country are supporting the public response to the ruling in the Chauvin case, which increases security and in some cases calls in the national guard as a precautionary measure.

The video of Floyd’s death caused massive protests this past summer. And while most of the protests remained peaceful, some deteriorated into riots, looting and clashes between law enforcers and protesters.

Biden said last week he supported peaceful protests after the fatal police shooting of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old black man who died earlier this month.

However, the president said there was “absolutely no justification” for rioting or violence.

“His position is that there should be room for peaceful protest,” Psaki said on Tuesday when asked about the public reaction to the Chauvin trial. “That will be his point of view, regardless of the outcome.”
