According to an animal control group from Poland, they received a call that an unidentifiable animal was terrorizing the residents of a street in Krakow. However, when officials arrived on the scene, they discovered that there was no danger at all.
The Krakow Animal Welfare Society posted the incident on Facebook, confirming that a woman had called in to report that a ‘creature’ had been terrorizing her neighbors for two days. According to the report, people were apparently afraid to open their windows because an unknown animal was lurking in a tree.

However, when officials arrived on the scene, they discovered that there was no chance that the animal was going into someone’s house or walking on someone under the tree.
This is because the ‘being’ was actually just a croissant in a tree.

The Animal Welfare Association in Krakow theorized that the croissant was put in the tree by someone who wanted to feed birds, although they could not confirm this. Regardless, the croissant was removed from the tree without incident and the reign of terror of the pastry over the neighborhood ended without incident.
The group posted photos of the croissant on Facebook, showing that it was in fact lying between different branches of a tree near residential buildings.

The animal welfare workers did write on Facebook that although this incident was amusing, it is still the right thing to report strange observations. Alien creatures hiding in trees usually do not become croissants, and it is safer for trained workers to handle them.
