The Cowboys will interview Joe Whitt Jr. Sunday for their defensive coordinator position, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Media.

The Cowboys fired Mike Nolan on Friday.

Whitt worked with Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy from 2008 to 18 in Green Bay. He spent his last season there as the coordinator of the Packers’ defensive game. In 2020, he was the Falcons’ secondary coach and passing game coordinator.

Whitt worked for the Browns in 2018.

He began his NFL career in Atlanta in 2007 as an assistant defensive back coach.

The Cowboys had a worst franchise award of 473 points, above the 436 the 2010 team allowed. The 2,541 rushing years allowed were just under the team record of 2,636 that the 2000 team allowed.
