Santa Fe, New Mexico A New Mexico land official and founder of the Cowboys for Trump group, who promised to return to Washington last week’s riot at the US Capitol to place a flag on the desk of the home, Nancy Pelosi, was arrested by the FBI on Sunday.
Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin has been arrested on charges of unlawfully entering the U.S. Capitol.
According to court documents, Griffin told investigators he was “trapped” among the crowd, which pushed through the barricades and entered the restricted area of the U.S. Capitol, but said he did not enter the building and into the U.S. Capitol step.
A video posted on Griffin’s personal Facebook page shows Griffin in the restricted areas, according to the statement.
Griffin did not immediately respond to phone calls or text messages from The Associated Press for comment.
Griffin said Thursday he plans to travel to Washington, DC, with firearms for The election of President Joe Biden.
“I will be there on January 20 … and I will take a stand for our country and for our freedoms,” Griffin said during a meeting of the Otero County Board of Commissioners.
“I’m leaving tonight or tomorrow. I have a .357 Henry Big Boy rifle action I had in the trunk of my car and I have a .357 single action revolver, the Colt Ruger Vaquero that I have under my front seat on my right and will accept my second amendment.
“I will keep my right to bear arms. My vehicle is an extension of my house with respect to the Constitution, and I have the right to have the firearms in my car,” he said.
The ViacomCBS program “Inside Edition” showed Griffin on the Capitol Stairs during the protest. “We’re not going anywhere,” he said. “We are not going to answer for no. We are not going to get our election stolen from China.”
Asked about comments he made on Facebook that there would be ‘blood from the Capitol’ if there were more demonstrations, and whether he feared more people could die, Griffin replied: ‘I’m more afraid of my freedom to lose than I am. ‘
On another point, Griffin also says, “We are not going to allow this. There will never be a Biden presidency.”
