The advances in vaccine deployment and growing herd immunity mean that the coronavirus pandemic should disappear in the US in April or May, said Dr. Fox News medical contributor Marty Makary told America’s Newsroom on Thursday.
Last month, Makary – a professor at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Medicine and Bloomberg School of Public Health – predicted in a Wall Street Journal opinion piece that America would have a herd immunity by April. ‘
‘Some people say,’ Look, the projection I said brought people a false sense of security. “I think it actually encouraged people to do what they have to do until we get to that point, because hope is on the way and I think the numbers show that,” Makary said.
His comments come after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) predicted that COVID-19 deaths would drop dramatically over the next four weeks.

The CDC’s forecast indicates that between 3,200 and 10,100 Americans will die from COVID-19 during the week of April 4-10.
“We are seeing a lot of good news,” said Makary, noting that ten countries had days in which they did not report any coronavirus deaths.
“I call it herd immunity,” Makary continues.

“I do not think we are going to put out this virus as I wrote in that piece,” he said later in the segment. ‘But there’s going to be a debate:’ Who are those people? ‘And it’s going to be mainly young people who have asymptomatic and mild illnesses. They can stay until May and early June. ‘
As of Wednesday morning, the new coronavirus had infected more than 120,710,811 people in 192 countries and territories, resulting in at least 2,670,763 deaths. In the U.S., all 50 states plus the District of Columbia have reported confirmed cases of COVID-19, counting more than 29,549,010 diseases and at least 536,914 deaths.
