COVID vaccinations, no appointments required, at three locations in Colorado

Government Jared Police said Tuesday that masses of COVID vaccine sites in Denver, Pueblo and Larimer County will now provide COVID-19 prevention injections that are not needed.

“We are doubling our call to all Colorado dancers to be vaccinated,” Polis said. ‘It’s easier than ever. It’s free. It’s fast. It’s easy. “

The move comes at another important moment in the state’s pandemic response. The state is in the midst of a fourth wave of cases. Police announced that 1,963 Coloradans tested positive on the last day and 553 people have now been admitted to hospital with COVID-19. That is 43 in one day and the highest number since the end of January.

“It’s very much a race against the clock,” Polis said, adding that about a third of the state’s adults are now fully vaccinated and that just over half of the adults got a first chance. He said more than 65 percent of people over the age of 60 are fully vaccinated, resulting in fewer people in that age group getting sick enough to need hospitalization.

But Polis remarked: “we have more and more people in the hospital in the thirties and forties and fifties and twenties.”

In the week of January 10, people accounted for 20 to 59 38 percent of COVID-19’s new hospital admissions. In the week of April 11, the percentage grew to 59 percent as older age groups adopted vaccines, which only recently became available to Coloradans 16 to 50.

The state epidemiologist presented new information about the percentage of people who tested positive for COVID-19 after being vaccinated in Colorado. Dr. Rachel Herlihy said the number is very small.

The state investigated data on ‘breakthrough cases’ from one week in early April. Among nearly a million people who were fully vaccinated, only 140 people later tested positive for the virus – a rate of far less than one percent: 0.014 percent. Herlihy showed reporters a slide and noted that it worked out for one in seven thousand.

“Vaccination is going to be our ticket out of this pandemic,” Herlihy said.

Herlihy said those who were fully vaccinated were nearly 95 percent less likely to get a positive test than those who were not vaccinated, according to national studies.

The governor stressed the importance of vaccinating younger Coloradans.

“Now it’s your turn. We have enough for you. Show up and get it. “You are not just protecting yourself, because yes, this virus can kill people in their twenties or thirties, who are healthy one day, and a week later in a ventilator,” said Polis. ‘That is why it is important for everyone aged 16 and over to be vaccinated. And the sooner we can do that, the sooner we can put this pandemic behind us in Colorado history. ”
