“Remember, you have a lot of staff at restaurants, there is a lot of work, there are a lot of suppliers, so we will go to 75%,” Cuomo said. “We also think that 75% is what the consumer is ready for.”
The move is an increase compared to the current 50% capacity for indoor eateries outside of New York City.
Cuomo did not propose increasing capacity in NYC by 35%.
Cuomo announced the change when he revealed that he had signed the New York Emergencies Bill that was signed.
He can now not issue new regulations across the country without legal permission, although he can still issue executive orders.
Existing orders will remain in effect, as will mask wear requirements, and Cuomo may change existing restrictions, such as restrictions on public gatherings and capacity.
