COVID Notes: 21/21/21 – MLB Trade Rumors

The latest situations regarding COVID-19 in the league:

  • Animals starter Spencer Turnbull seems unlikely to return to Spring Training before the end of the camp due to health and safety protocols, manager AJ Hinch told reporters (including Chris McCosky of Detroit News). Hinch does not rule out the possibility that Turnbull will make a turn during the season-opening rotation, although it looks like he is now being pushed to the back rather than taking the ball on the first day.
  • Joey Votto returned to Reds’ camp today after testing positive for COVID-19 eleven days ago. The former MVP is still on the Cincinnati COVID list, but has been cleared for workouts and spring practice games. It remains to be seen whether Votto will be able to pull up enough in time for the opening day, as Nick Krall, GM of the Reds, told Mark Sheldon and other reporters to MLB.com that the team will allow Votto “get his legs under him and go from there. I can not give you a timetable. ”
