Mexico has received a reprint on the number of coronavirus contagions that exceeded the maximum registered in May in June, during the first pandemic, and with it increased the demand for medicines for its treatment of 120% in promedio.
In agreement with the National Union of Pharmacists (UNEFARM), industry has been able to respond to the needs, in order to ensure the rhythm of the existing contagious risk of medicines due to the fact that the laboratories have a capacity limit.

This is what Juvenal Becerra, President of UNEFARM, said in an interview with Political Animal. “From mid-November onwards, we increased the increment by between 100 and 200 products for COVID. It’s impressive ”.
The lamentation of the authorities, medical staff and women is about to deal with the pandemic as its two pharmacies, each of which is more insistent: “Quédense en casa, usen cubrebocas, cuidémonos”.
The UNEFAR, with 5 miles affiliated in 16 units of the country, groups small pharmacies in popular colonies. It was established that he lived 30 or 40 years in the same barrier and knew his clients and entered first hand about the behavior of contact in the colonies.
In April and May, Juvenal Becerra reconciles, “if we have intermittent disasters”, because we were prepared to face the pandemic, but then the market can respond and in advance of the months also the demand.
However, there are now products that have increased up to 200%, although in addition to the demand for medicines for COVD treatment as azithromycin, oseltamivir or paracetamol has increased 120%.
“There are more preparations, but the laboratories have a production capacity. Now we have a serious and debilitating topic, but if this topic of contagion is very fast, to the best of my knowledge we have problems with some products ”.
Soon, UNEFARM will hold weekly meetings with laboratories and distributors to monitor product demand and ensure distribution. “We will balance the amount of units required by pharmacy, because we just do not want to be disastrous.”
