COVID Illinois: Better Government Association, PolitiFact checks Republicans’ demands for state COVID-19 vaccine priorities

CHICAGO (WLS) – The Better Government Association and PolitiFact have reviewed a claim by Illinois Republicans regarding the COVID-19 vaccine priorities.

BGA reporter Kiannah Sepeda-Miller joined ABC 7 Chicago on Saturday morning to discuss the project.

According to a claim by the GOP’s Facebook and Twitter account of Illinois, ‘Pritzker’s Hierarchy of Vaccine Priorities’ portrays prisoners, politicians, and college students as ‘individuals with high-risk health factors and everyone else.’

Sepeda-Miller said they considered the GOP’s post ‘half true’.

Prisoners and state legislators may receive the vaccine at this stage, but those under the age of 65 will be eligible on February 25th.

Students are not eligible unless they fall into another category.

It can be easy to share images or graphs online, especially if they come from seemingly respected sources, but some posts like these may be half true, Sepeda-Miller said. It’s best to stop what you see online before sharing it.
