The number of new cases of COVID-19 in Nevada dropped to 1,328 the previous day, as the state added 37 deaths due to the disease, according to state data published Friday.
The latest figures from the Department of Health and Human Services brought the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 276,279, while the death toll raised the death toll to 4,218.
New cases were well above the 14-day moving average of 1,055 per day and reached the highest one-day total since Saturday, when 1,501 cases were reported.
Deaths were well above the 14-day moving average of 19 per day.
The positivity rate of the state, essentially the percentage of people being tested and confirmed to have the coronavirus disease, reached its recent descent on January 13 from 21.7 percent to 18 percent. The forward-looking measure is still more than triple with the World Health Organization’s goal of 5 percent, but government officials say it points to the state’s mitigation and vaccination efforts affecting the spread of the disease.
According to state data, 1290 patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases occupied hospital beds in Nevada as of Thursday, up from 32 from the previous day.
According to the Southern Nevada Health District, Clark County has meanwhile reported 1,122 new COVID-19 cases and 27 deaths during the previous day. This brought the cumulative totals for the country to 212,575 cases and 3,234 deaths.
