COVID-19 vaccine was available to anyone 18 years and older during the jazz event in Orlando, says commissioner

ORLANDO, Fla. According to City Commissioner Bakari Burns, a Johnson and Johnson vaccine was available to everyone 18 years and older at Jazz in the Park in Orlando on Saturday.

“If you are 18 years and older, you can be vaccinated,” said Commissioner Bakari Burns.

Burns said this in a Facebook Live message around 5:30 a.m. in the video. He made this message on Saturday around 13:13. About three hours later, Burns clarified his statement, saying anyone 18 years and older with illnesses.

News 6 did talk to people under the age of 40 who did receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

According to Burns’ Facebook page, tickets for the event at Bill Frederick Park sold out earlier this week.

“We should all consider getting the vaccine if you do not have it,” Burns said.

Burns said shots were fired by crew members of the Florida Emergency Management Division.

As of Monday, anyone 50 years and older is eligible to receive a coronavirus vaccine in Florida.

From Monday, someone 40 years and older will also be able to get a vaccine at the Orange County Convention Center.

There were 250 vaccine doses available during the event.
