SAN ANTONIO The health group has offered free modern COVID-19 vaccinations by University Health from Monday for people in the most recent phase approved for vaccination by the Government of Texas, Greg Abbott and the Department of State Health Services.

Health officials said the Moderna vaccine is available to “persons identified as part of phase 1B, including elderly people who are at least 65 years old, and people who are 18 years or older who have certain chronic medical conditions.”
Those in the group can register online at WeCanDoItSA.com and, according to University Health, schedule a time to receive the vaccine.

The vaccine will be available from 8 to 20 hours Monday through Saturday, as long as the vaccine is available, according to University Health.

The goal is to vaccinate 1,000 people at this site daily, according to University Health. The vaccine is given in two doses, 28 days apart.
An appointment for the second shot will be scheduled when the first shot is given. Health officials said it was important that people receive both doses.
Those receiving the Moderna vaccine must be 18 years old, although 16- and 17-year-olds with chronic medical conditions can call 210-644-1960 to schedule an appointment for the Pfizer vaccine elsewhere, according to University Health.
