The Department of Health has tracked down community distribution in the state of New Mexico and is investigating cases without any known exposure. The agency reports that given the contagious nature of the virus it is likely that other residents are infected, but that it has not yet been tested or positively confirmed. With that end in sight, all New Mexicans are instructed to stay at home except for trips that are absolutely essential for health, safety and well-being. These additional restrictions have been put in place to aggressively limit person-to-person contact and to ensure that distribution is mitigated. New Mexicans are strongly encouraged to limit travel to only what is necessary for health, safety and well-being.

The New Mexico Department of Health conducted active investigations into the positive patients, which included contact detection and swabs of symptomatic individuals who had contact with the positive cases.
