42 New cases reported since Friday

Forty-two new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Humboldt County since the latest report on Friday. The total number of provincial residents who tested positive for the virus now stands at 3,308.

Four previously reported hospitalizations were counted from the province. Although all four were positive for COVID-19, the reason they went to the hospital was determined that it was not related to the virus. Two new hospitalizations are being reported today, so the total number of local hospitalizations associated with COVID-19 is 133.

Public health using forms of interest to complete vaccinations for vaccination

Humboldt County Public Health is holding three large-scale COVID-19 vaccination clinics this week in partnership with local healthcare providers and expects to administer at least 2,300 doses. Clinic appointments are by invitation only. To fill appointments, Public Health uses information submitted through the online interest form, based on the vaccination priorities set forth by the state.

Other locally approved vaccines contact their qualifying patients directly to plan vaccinations.

State’s outdoor meeting, accompaniment for performances takes effect on April 1

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued updated guidelines to allow additional outdoor activities with COVID-19 safety measures.

From 1 April, outdoor sports and outdoor performance venues can be reopened with fans and spectators, provided there is always face covering. Some other safety precautions needed include:

  • Capacity limited based on the province’s allocation
  • Visitors are only allowed from the immediate area or in California, depending on the province’s allocation
  • Concessions ordered and served in the seat, no entrance sales
  • Seats are reserved and allocated in advance
  • Workers and staff are tested weekly.

Amusement parks can also reopen from April 1 for visitors to the country for provinces in Red Tier or better. Check out the state’s full list of activities and business levels under “Blueprint for a Safer Economy” at https://tinyurl.com/statetierchanges.

The list also outlines new, higher thresholds for redeployment under the “Blueprint” once 2 million vaccines have been distributed to communities hardest hit by the pandemic. CDPH anticipates that this will happen within the next few days.
