Press Release of the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

An additional 147 cases of COVID-19 have been reported since the latest report on Thursday. A previously reported case has been determined to be a duplicate, and the total number of Humboldt County residents who tested positive now stands at 1,910.

Given the recent increase in local cases, Dr. Ian Hoffman, a health officer in Humboldt County, shared information on best practices for people who are positive and those who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. ‘If you test positive, follow the isolation procedures. Stay home and contact the Joint Information Center. The guidance is so simple, ”he said. “Locking yourself away from others, including people you live with, is the best way to stop the distribution chain and keep your friends and loved ones safe.”

Quarantine is intended for people who have not tested positive but have been identified as having close contact with a person known to be positive for COVID-19. A close contact is defined as a COVID-positive person within a total of 15 minutes or longer over a period of 24 hours.

“If you have been notified by a medical professional or someone that you are in close contact, follow the quarantine guidelines and stay home for at least ten days from the time of exposure,” said Dr. Hoffman said. days is still the safest option to prevent exposure. ‘Do not be tested again. It puts health workers at risk, and a negative test result does not affect the duration of your quarantine. ”
