Press Release of the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

An additional 131 cases of COVID-19 were reported over the three-day weekend. It has been determined that a case previously reported is a duplicate, and the total number of residents of the country who tested positive is now 2,393.

The state on Sunday recommended that provinces suspend the administration of a single amount of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine. The lot represents about 90% of the doses Humboldt County has available for new first doses that would be planned this week. Health Officer, dr. Ian Hoffman, described it as a “huge setback” and said that although no scheduled appointments will be postponed or canceled this week, the groups next in line may get the heaviest.

“Plans to expand vaccination clinics to those over the age of 75 have been delayed by this break, and it is unclear how long this will continue,” Dr Hoffman said. “People in this age group have just been vaccinated by local providers, so we are working hard to get more doses available from everywhere to minimize disruption.” He added: “It is clear that fate will be released for distribution and that we again intend to vaccinate older adults, but we just do not know when it will be.”

In related news, the California Department of Public Health announced today that Humboldt County remains in the “Purple” or widespread level below the state’s “Blueprint for a Safer Economy,” with an adjusted rate of 17.7 and a positive rate of 4.9%.

Dr Hoffman added that residents of the province should continue to follow COVID-19 safety measures, including wearing a face mask, keeping a distance of at least 6 feet from someone outside your household, avoiding meetings and washing hands regularly. .
