Press Release of the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:
Two Humboldt County residents have died of COVID-19, and 132 132 additional cases have been reported since. Two previously reported cases have been removed, and the total number of residents of the country tested positive for the virus is now 2624.
One of the people who died was in their 70s and the other in their 90s. Humboldt County Public Health staff express their condolences to the friends and family of these individuals.
The California Department of Public Health announced today that the “Regional Stay Home Order” for the entire state will be lifted, and that all provinces must once again follow COVID-19 safety measures, as outlined in the “Blueprint for a Safer Economy. ” The state’s “Limited Stay Home Order” was also terminated.
The announcement had little impact locally because the “Regional Stay Home Order” was never applied to the Northern California region. Humboldt County remains in the “Purple” or widespread level. For more information on Blueprint, go to covid19.ca.gov/stay-home-except-for-essential-needs.
This week, public health and other locally approved vaccines are expected to receive a total of 1,875 COVID-19 vaccine doses – 600 first-dose Moderna, 300 second-dose Moderna and first-dose 975 Pfizer.
Public Health continues to plan mass vaccination clinics for health workers in Phase 1A. Two of the three clinics planned this week will focus on health workers who have not yet received their first dose, and the third for medical staff who are ready for their second dose. Appointments for health workers are by invitation only.
Providers approved to administer vaccine will contact their patients over 75 directly, as the vaccine is available for that phase. Those who do not have a provider or whose physician is not an approved vaccine can complete the newly introduced online vaccine interest form to be notified when appointments are available for their priority group. Visit humboldtgov.org/InterestForm to access the form.
