A new study suggests that COVID-19 immunity remains strong after infection after 8 months.
What is happening?
In a new study, researchers said there was a robust immune response to COVID-19 eight months after infection.
- According to the study, published in the journal Science, approximately 90% of the patients studied showed stable immunity.
The study examined blood samples from 200 patients. The samples showed that the immune system – not just antibodies – recognizes COVID-19 and responds to the virus.
- The immune system appears to recognize the COVID-19 virus and generate a counter-attack against it.
Why it matters:
The Washington Post made it very clear: ‘There are isolated reports of people having a second case of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, but it seems to be rare, and the new study reinforces the case that immunity usually persists. ”
Immunity to COVID-19
According to the Deseret News, a new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that people who recovered from COVID-19 may have less than 90 days of immunity.
The new study looked at 156 health workers in the U.S. who tested positive for COVID-19 for the study, which gave an antibody test one month after developing systems.
- 94% of the participants showed a kind of decrease in antibodies by the second test.
- 28% experienced a significant decrease.
