COVID-19: Error gives private school employees access to vaccination, says report

Nearly a dozen faculty and staff at a private school received the COVID-19 vaccination before health care professionals and long-term caregivers due to an email error.

On Monday, January 4, Mark Fader, principal at Williams School, said 11 faculties and staff had taken the vaccine after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was notified that employees were eligible to participate in one of the the first vaccination rounds, reports the New London Day.

In response, the school provided the CDC with a list of faculty and staff and all 53 employees received an email with instructions on how to plan a vaccination.

The Williams School in New London offers private training to students in grades 6-12.

On December 29, Fader said he had learned from the local health council that faculties and staff had received the CDC email incorrectly. It is unclear how this mistake was made.

The Williams school has warned employees to cancel any vaccination plans, but 11 members have already received treatment. Employees who have taken their first doses of the vaccine may take the necessary second doses.
