COVID-19 Detection in Lancaster County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lincoln-Lancaster County Department of Health announced Sunday that 76 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the Lancaster County Laboratory, bringing the community to 26,193. The total number of deaths in the community remains at 187.

Vaccination registrations from 16:00: 57,900

An online COVID-19 vaccine form for Lancaster County residents is now available at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov. Those who do not have online access or need assistance can call the COVID-19 hotline of LLCHD 402-441-8006 from 08:00 to 16:30 weekdays to register.

The vaccine is not yet available to the general public. As vaccine doses become available, those who are registered will get an appointment to be vaccinated. Appointments for vaccinations depend on the vaccine supply and are not related to the order in which people register. Registration is open to all residents of the province, but those in Phase1B – 65 years and older and those with underlying medical conditions – are encouraged to register.

The COVID-19 risk disk is orange, which indicates a high risk of spreading the virus. Residents are advised to follow these recommendations to protect themselves and others:

  • Wear a face mask and stay at least six feet away when dealing with someone outside of your household.
  • Work from home if possible.
  • Individual outdoor activities are preferred.
  • Small events and events only with modifications (ie physical distance, face masks, capacity constraints, etc.).
  • Avoid large gatherings.
  • Visit RecoverLNK.com for information on how local businesses are taking precautions to protect employees and customers.
  • Follow travel guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control at cdc.gov.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, repeated shaking with cold fever, repeated muscle aches, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell. Get tested if you have symptoms. Tests are now open to all Lancaster County residents by appointment only.

The testing process begins with a free online risk assessment available at BryanHealth.com, CHIHealth.com or TestNebraska.com. Driving through test sites includes:

  • Bryan Health: Former Graham Tire Store, northeast corner of 19th and ‘O’ streets. Tests are done from 8:45 to 11:15 Monday and 8:45 to 11:45 Tuesday to Saturday.
  • CHI Health St. Elizabeth: Autumn Ridge Family Medicine, 5000 North 26th St. and Southwest Family Health, Aries Drive 1240. Call one of the sites to schedule an appointment: Autumn Ridge, 402-435-5300 and South West Family, 402-420-1300.
  • Test Nebraska: Gateway Mall, 6100 “O” St., northern parking lot of the former Sears store. Tests are done from 08:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Saturday. For more information, call 402-207-9377.
