COVID-19 Conference Center Vaccination Center is Open to Residents Outside Orange County

ORANGE COUNTRY, Fla. On the first day that COVID-19 vaccinations for elderly residents began at the Orange County Convention Center, officials made a major change that would open the site to more people.

The director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, dr. Raul Pino, was determined late Monday afternoon when plans were announced for the site that only residents of Orange County 65 and older could shoot in it.

‘Now, all of these services are intended for Orange residents only, and we’re going to validate your home with a real ID. “If you enter the information (online), you have to make sure that it matches the ID you are going to provide,” Pino said on Monday.

The site opened for the first time for vaccinations on Tuesday at 9 a.m. and around 1 p.m., the country announced that it would no longer be limited to Orange County residents only.

No reason was given for the change, but Pino did mention Monday that there could be logistical issues in allowing Orange County residents only.

‘Orange County is therefore going to have a challenge because we are such a central place and such a magnet for the surrounding communities. “Other people from the surrounding communities will try to be vaccinated here, so it will be interesting to see if people stick to it,” said Pino.

The goal is to vaccinate 1,500 people a day at the conference center.

Appointments are required and can be done online here. After the first day, however, the online registration portal was closed after more than 30,000 appointments were made within 24 hours.

“Currently, the Department is closing the CDR HealthPRO portal for further appointments,” reads an email from the Orange County DOH. “The Department will provide an update when the system reopens.”
