According to Johns Hopkins University, Alabama (+ 90%), Delaware (+ 52%) and Michigan (+ 50%) are among the states with the largest spikes.
In Michigan, cases have risen since the last week of February, and the state has reported the second highest number of cases of the B.1.1.7 variant, first identified in the UK.
Those nails come as Michigan prepares to expand the state’s largest mass vaccination center at Ford Field in Detroit.

Morse said there is a long list of factors contributing to the increase in cases in Michigan.

Whitmer eased the constraints earlier this month by raising capacity constraints at restaurants, shops and gyms from 25% to 50%, with a maximum capacity of 100 people per country.
Whitmer told CNN earlier this month that her state had made great strides against the virus, but that they would remain “tied to science” while easing restrictions.
Morse said the replacement of restrictions led to the mask being worn badly. She also said that the news about emerging vaccines made people believe that they could relax their hygiene habits, such as masks.
Morse told CNN that a Covid-19 outbreak in a prison in Ionia County and the B.1.1.7 variant also fueled the recent boom.
Morse, who noted that the state has administered more than three million doses of vaccines, said it fears the progress in fighting the virus could be reversed if the trend of rising cases continues.
“My one hope is that we have vaccinated really aggressively and that we have worked through the different categories for vaccination very well,” Morse said. “And I hope it will help to climb (things) as unbridled as (they) did in the fall.”
Michigan Lieutenant General Garlin Gilchrist shared the hope during Thursday’s announcement at Ford Field.
“At the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Detroit was one of America’s centers for cases and deaths. And as a Detroiter, I felt I had personally said goodbye to 27 people to this virus so far,” Gilchrist said, adding that the Ford Fieldyard will allocate 1,000 vaccines daily to mobile vaccine units in southeast Michigan. “The virus has hit our city hard, but Michiganders are tough. We can come together to fight Covid-19.”
