Couple fined for walking on leash amid COVID curfew

According to a report, a Canadian woman had a dog’s chance to beat coronavirus restrictions – by walking her husband on a leash.

The 24-year-old told police she was just walking with her dog ‘near her home’ in the city of Sherbrooke, Quebec province, where a curfew was set from 8pm to 5pm, Telegraph reported.

Police spotted the strange couple on Saturday around 9pm when the curfew rule came into force.

According to the rules, people can dare to walk with their dogs during the hours if they live about half a kilometer from their homes.

“One of them had the other on a leash, and she said she took her dog and pointed to her partner, on a walk, as allowed under the exceptions the Quebec premier has under the law on the provided opening hours, “said police spokeswoman Isabelle Gendron, according to the Telegraph.

The woman and her 40-year-old husband, who were not named, were fined $ 1,217 for the offense.

They said it would be a ‘pleasure’ to receive the fine, adding that ‘it will not prevent them from breaking the rules in the future and that they will see how many tickets they can get,’ he said. Gendron said.

“I know this is difficult, but Quebecers are able to work together as a team,” Quebec Premier François Legault asked residents to respect social distance rules.

In Quebec, police issued 750 tickets for offenses during the first weekend of the evening bell.

Canada has recorded nearly 670,000 total COVID-19 cases since the onset of the pandemic.
