County now offers second-dose appointments for COVID vaccine at mega site, officials say

After coming under criticism for failing to schedule appointments for the second dose of COVID vaccine on a mega-website by the state, officials say people are now automatically getting the dates they were desperately looking for.

Gloucester County officials said the county is working with the state to make sure people who get their first vaccines on the mega-premises at Rowan College in South Jersey will get the much-needed second doses.

“As confirmed by the state, all individuals who have already received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine before January 29, 2021, will be automatically scheduled for their second dose on Friday, January 29, 2021,” the country said. . “These people should expect to receive an email with a QR code (matrix barcode) with the date and time of their next appointment.”

If the province does not have an email address, they receive a text message or phone call to plan their second dose.

In the future, all people who receive their vaccine on or after January 30 will automatically receive a second dose appointment from the state, the country said.

“The state has advised that appointments will be in line with the date on the back of the card and that all appointments will be held at the Mega Vaccination Site in Gloucester County,” the state said.

Several readers have told NJ Advance Media that they are concerned about the appointment of a second dose, especially since doses and appointments are scarce. They said they could not book one on the state’s registration website, and this was confirmed by the country on Monday.

“Seeing officials come up with a decision is welcome news, assuming everything fits in well with their plan,” said Charlie Dowd, one of the people waiting for a second dose appointment.

The state said Tuesday it surpassed 600,000 confirmed cases on the same day it hit 600,000 vaccinations.
