Due to a slowdown in appointments at COVID-19 vaccination sites, the province of San Diego today expanded the category of those eligible for those 75 years and older.
“We took this action today to add people 75 years and older because they are at greatest risk,” said Wilma J. Wooten, MD, MPH, provincial health officer. “It is our intention to extend the vaccines to 65-year-olds during the week of January 25, depending on the availability of vaccines.”
These new requirements apply to the Petco Park vaccination superstructure and other distribution points that provide vaccination in the province. More information is at coronavirus-sd.com/vaccine and reservations can be made at vaccinationsuperstationsd.com.
Only health workers (Phase 1A, all levels) and 75 years and older (Phase 1B, Level 1) can visit vaccination sites.
- Healthcare workers are encouraged to first contact their doctor or healthcare provider to request the vaccine, but if none is available, they should make an appointment for a provincial site.
- Appointments are necessary; walk-ups and drive-ups without appointments will be rejected.
- Do not schedule an appointment if you have COVID-19 or are ill. Follow the CDC guidelines for these situations
- Medical professionals administering the vaccine will wear personal protective equipment
- Wear a mask
- Acceptable forms of evidence must be presented at the Vaccine Super Station
- Employee ID badge with photo or other documents, including a professional license and a photo ID, signed letter from their employer on facility letterhead and a photo ID; or a paycheck or roster from their health care employer or support services at home with a photo ID
