Costco is a one-stop shop for everything you could ever need or desire – greasy pizza slices, buckets of tame 27-pound cheese, reasonably priced tequila. There is only one more thing to add to your shopping list: the COVID-19 vaccine.
The wholesale store now administers coronavirus vaccines to patients across the country. According to an official update on the COVID-19 resource sheet, Costco is “administering COVID-19 vaccines as soon as they are available, in accordance with CDC and state guidelines.” California, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington and Puerto Rico are currently offering doses – usually the Modern vaccine.
Of course, there are limitations. With limited accessibility, the U.S. prioritizes health care and frontline workers, over the age of 65, and individuals with underlying conditions that put them at greater risk, Costco wrote on its website. Availability also depends on certain government requirements. You may be eligible in some regions, but not in others.
“Costco is committed to helping protect the health and safety of our members and employees and serve our communities,” the company said in an official statement.
However, Costco is not the only chain offering COVID-19 vaccines. In fact, Sam’s Club, Walmart, CVS and Walgreens give doses. You can even travel to your appointment for free via Uber and Lyft if you go to one of the last two pharmacies.
