Costco announced Saturday that it will begin delivering coronavirus vaccines to certain locations in California, including one in Marin County.
The pharmacy of the supermarket in Novato will administer the vaccine, but currently only health workers are eligible, according to Costco’s discussion page. There is currently some available on Friday.
Some Costco stores in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino also offer vaccinations.
Outside of California, Costco stores in New York, Oregon and Puerto Rico are also among those supplying the vaccine.
Costco officials did not immediately respond to a request for further information, including when other locations in the Bay might start offering vaccinations.
Several CVS sites in the Bay Area carry the vaccine, in cities including Alameda, Berkeley, Oakland, San San Francisco and San Jose. The pharmaceutical chain said the COVID-19 vaccine will be available at additional CVS sites once the stock is available.
Costco’s website said the store would offer a “limited” number of coronavirus vaccines – usually Moderna – at its available locations. The site advised patients not to contact Costco pharmacies directly, “as they could not schedule an appointment or meet current admission requirements.”
