CORRECTION: The two deaths reported by Tompkins County Department of Health on Wednesday, January 20, did not occur at the Oak Hill Manor nursing home and are not related to the COVID-19 cases in the facility. A representative of the Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home, Nursing Director Lexi Gutierrez, claimed this morning that there are no more COVID-19 cases at the facility. The Tompkins County Department of Health will issue a correction at some point today.
TOMPKINS COUNTY, NY – The Tompkins County Department of Health has announced two additional COVID-19 deaths in the country, as well as the highest number of positive tests reported so far one day.
There are now 21 total deaths in Tompkins County due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began. While it was initially reported that the deaths were at the Oak Hill Manor nursing home, it has now been confirmed that it was misinformation from the Tompkins County Department of Health.

Tompkins County also reported 62 new cases, the highest single day of positive coronavirus tests since the pandemic began in March. There are 17 people admitted to the hospital with active COVID-19 cases and 295 total active cases.
“We think of the families of those we lost. Every death due to COVID-19 in our community is heartbreaking and a reminder that many people are still struggling with this disease,” said Frank Kruppa, director of public health.
