Coroner says there is no evidence that UC student died as a result of the J&J vaccine – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

CINCINNATI – A Hamilton County coroner has rectified the speculation that the death of a Cincinnati University student was related to receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

John Foley, 21, died at his home on April 11, according to his news partner at WCPO-TV.

Foley received his Johnson & Johnson vaccine a day before his death and speculation as to whether the vaccine was the cause quickly spread on social media.

“At this stage we have no evidence to indicate that the vaccine was linked to his death,” Hamilton County coroner Lakshmi Sammarco told a news conference Friday afternoon.

Some of the reports on social media claim that Foley’s autopsy provides evidence that he is experiencing fatal blood clots, which is a possible fatal side effect recorded at six well-known Johnson & Johnson recipients, reports WCPO-TV.

That’s not true, Sammarco said. Foley had no blood clots and experienced no pulmonary embolism.

Her staff is still waiting to learn more about Foley’s medical history and to get results from some post – mortem tests.

“I would rather not give any information that is incomplete before we test more specifically,” she said. “I do not want to share details about things we found that may have contributed to his death.”

Sammarco said her office is investigating other, more likely causes of death, but declined to provide specific information about an ongoing investigation.
