The number of new daily cases gradually decreased and 2270 people were eventually infected with the virus. At the height of the pandemic in the second half of January, there were more than 70,000 active cases, with about 1,200 people in a serious condition.
Of those in serious condition, 77.6% were not vaccinated, including three children.
About 141 new cases were identified on Monday, with 0.4% of about 37,000 tests yielding a positive result, the Ministry of Health reported. The numbers correspond to the previous days.
The rate of reproduction, or ‘R’, which indicates the number of people who will infect each virus carrier on average, also remained stable for a few weeks below 0.8, which means that the disease is gradually in recession.
The number of daily deaths is also declining. Three people died of the virus on Monday. In January, about 77 people died from COVID-19 within 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, approximately 6,338 people in Israel have lost to the disease.
