The Oregon health authority on Monday reported 666 new confirmed or suspected cases of coronavirus and three more deaths, as officials announced that the rollout of vaccines to some groups would be delayed after a promised federal shipment of 200,000 doses could not materialize.
Vaccinations continued in the state, with more than 8,400 doses of the vaccine administered Sunday. A total of 216,925 first and second doses of the vaccine were administered in Oregon, officials said out of 335,075 doses delivered.
Where the new cases are by country: Benton (10), Clackamas (57), Columbia (6), Coos (1), Crook (9), Deschutes (51), Douglas (11), Hood River (3), Jackson (40), Jefferson (2) , Josephine (9), Lake (1), Lane (81), Lincoln (5), Linn (8), Malheur (4), Marion (79), Morrow (6), Multnomah (140), Polk (9) , Umatilla (29), Wasco (10), Washington (87) Yamhill (8).
New deaths: Oregon’s 1,801 coronavirus-related deaths are a 90-year-old woman from Lane County who tested positive on Jan. 4 and died Jan. 8 in her home.
The 1,802 deaths are a 55-year-old man in Marion County who tested positive on Dec. 27 and died at Salem Hospital on Jan. 16.
Oregon’s 1,803 death is a 99-year-old woman in Multnomah County who tested positive on Jan. 3 and died in her home on Jan. 15.
Each person had underlying health conditions, or government officials were determining if the person had underlying medical conditions.
The incidence of infections: On Wednesday, the state reported 775 new positive tests out of 12,453 tests performed, which equates to a 6.2% positivity rate.
Who became infected: New confirmed or suspected infections grew among the following age groups: 0-9 (46); 10-19 (138); 20-29 (207); 30-39 (175); 40-49 (160); 50-59 (128); 60-69 (84); 70-79 (43); 80 and older (26).
Who is in the hospital: The state reported that 342 Oregonians with confirmed coronavirus infections were in the hospital Monday, 19 less than Sunday. Of these, 94 coronavirus patients were in intensive care units, one less than on Sunday.
Vaccines administered: Oregon administered 216,925 doses from 335,075 receipts, nearly 65% of its supply.
Since it started: Oregon reported 133,851 confirmed or suspected infections and 1803 deaths, one of the lowest totals in the country. To date, the state has reported 2,969,076 laboratory reports of tests.
