Coronavirus in Oregon: 628 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths

The Oregon Health Authority on Sunday reported 628 new COVID-19 cases in the state, but no new deaths due to the disease.

An increasing number of cases have been reported in recent weeks despite increasing numbers of people being vaccinated. On Monday, everyone over the age of 16 in Oregon is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

Vaccines: Oregon reported 32,287 newly administered doses – 20,973 on Saturday and 11,314 previous days, but just entered the vaccine registry. In the past week, the state has averaged 34,359 doses per day.

The health authority reports that Oregon administered 1.3 million first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine, 1.1 million first and second doses of the Moderna vaccine, and 88,405 single doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been temporarily suspended ‘out of caution’ due to rare but dangerous blood clots.

Where the new cases are by country: Baker (2), Clackamas (72), Clatsop (4), Columbia (7), Coos (7), Crook (2), Curry (2), Deschutes (47), Douglas (4), Grant (6), Harney (1), Hood River (1), Jackson (20), Jefferson (6), Josephine (9), Klamath (37), Lane (39), Lincoln (4), Linn (16), Malheur (1) , Marion (83), Multnomah (142), Polk (11), Tillamook (1), Union (5), Wasco (2), Washington (83) and Yamhill (14).

Hospitalizations: 215 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are admitted to hospital, 15 more than Saturday. 48 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care, one more than Saturday.

Since it started: The official version of confirmed and suspected cases since the pandemic started early last year now stands at 175,121 and 2,460 deaths.
