Coronavirus in Oregon: 560 new cases, 1 death; almost 1 in 3 residents at least partially vaccinated

The Oregon Health Authority reported 560 new COVID-19 cases and one death on Friday, with nearly one in three Oregonians now at least partially vaccinated against the disease.

Business continued their upward trend, hit their highest averaged in two months at 475 per day during the past week. Increasing cases have brought Multnomah and Clackamas provinces into the high-risk category today, again limiting restaurants to 25% indoors.

Deschutes, Klamath, Linn and Tillamook also entered the high-risk category, with all six counties representing three-fifths of Oregon’s population.

In ten days, Oregon will host COVID-19 vaccines to everyone 16 years and older, a change in response to President Joe Biden’s mandate Tuesday. Brown originally planned to offer vaccination to anyone 16 years and older by July 1, and has pushed the date to May 1 and now to April 19.

However, government officials said there would not be enough doses for everyone eligible, and they estimate that it will take almost six weeks after April 19 until there is enough vaccine in the state, so that 70% of 16-year-olds and parent will have the chance to receive a first dose.

The latest figures show that 32.6% of Oregonians received at least one dose, with 20.4% fully vaccinated.

Vaccines: Oregon reported 53,121 new doses, including 33,410 on Thursday and the remainder of previous days.

Where the new cases are by country: Baker (3), Benton (3), Clackamas (51), Clatsop (6), Columbia (7), Curry (7), Deschutes (51), Douglas (8), Grant (24), Harney (1), Hood River (1), Jackson (27), Jefferson (6), Josephine (18), Klamath (25), Lake (2), Lane (47), Lincoln (9), Linn (17), Malheur (2) , Marion (33), Multnomah (97), Polk (11), Tillamook (3), Umatilla (10), Union (3), Wallowa (1), Wasco (1), Washington (83) and Yamhill (3) .

Who is dead: Oregon’s 2,440th COVID-19 death is a 62-year-old man in Clatsop County who tested positive on March 25 and on April 5 in Providence St. Vincent Medical Center died. He had underlying conditions.

Hospitalizations: 158 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are admitted to hospital, 10 from Thursday. This includes 39 in intensive care, one from Thursday.

Since it started: Oregon reported 169,338 confirmed or suspected infections and 2,440 deaths, one of the lowest per capita numbers in the country. To date, the state has administered 2,170,531 doses that have been administered.
