The Oregon Health Authority on Friday reported 499 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths, as the state’s top health official described worrying trends such as rising property taxes and increased hospitalizations as further proof that we are still fighting a ‘resilient enemy’. .
During a Friday morning news conference, dr. Dean Sidelinger, the state’s epidemiologist, said Oregon rose 17% in March with hospitalizations and seven-day running figures by 22%.
Sidelinger noted that the positivity rate also fell, although it was below 5%, an important measure used during the past six months of the pandemic to determine a country’s risk level. He noted that provinces could see their risk levels rise in the coming weeks if the benchmarks do not improve, meaning the dining room inside and other activities are reduced.
On Friday, the positivity rate was 4.5%, but it was higher than the one-week average of 4.1%.

State health officials have reminded Oregonians to go further socially, wear a mask in public and get vaccinated if eligible.
Vaccines: Oregon reported 46,154 newly administered doses, including 29,325 doses Thursday and 16,829 from previous days.

Who is dead: No new deaths were reported Friday.
Hospitalizations: 157 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are being admitted to hospital, two more than Thursday. There are 42 patients with COVID-19 in intensive care, three more than Thursday.
Since it started: Oregon reported 166,013 confirmed or suspected infections and 2,385 deaths, one of the lowest per capita numbers in the country. To date, the state has administered 1,899,238 doses of vaccines.
