The Chargers made one of the biggest rumors for the free agent on the first day of the negotiation period when they agreed on a five-year deal with center Corey Linsley.

Upgrading the offense before the second season of quarterback Justin Herbert was a priority for the Chargers and they offered to make Linsley the highest paid center in the league to make him part of the effort. The money did not hurt their chances of getting Linsley to land, and neither did the presence of Bryan Bulaga.

Bulaga and Linsley played six seasons together in Green Bay and Linsley told SiriusXM NFL Radio that the words of the tackle helped him sell when he joined the Chargers.

‘Lots of conversations with Bryan Bulaga today, just to get a feel for the new staff and everyone there, ”Linsley said. “He just had positive things to say. . . His opinion matters a lot to me. That he can vouch for everyone – not even work with them, but only get the first impression – means a lot to me. ”

Herbert was one of the people who received a positive review from Bulaga, and Linsley noted the presence of other young ‘studs’ as a further attraction to joining the team.
