Two women have been arrested after police in Newark, New Jersey, raided an illegal bar in a 200-person warehouse amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Denisse Tinizaray, 26, and Katherine Tinizaray, 28, both of Newark, are charged with maintaining an illegal liquor business, illegally owning alcohol and selling alcohol illegally, NJ.com reports.
According to Detective Task Force detectives, a large party was operating in Libella Court 6, where liquor was sold from behind a makeshift bar around midnight Sunday, public safety chief Anthony Daily said.
More than 200 people were inside, drinking alcohol and engaging in illegal gambling, Ambrose said.
The two suspects were unable to produce paperwork, proving they have a license to sell alcohol, he added.
This is the second illegal bar to be broken into in New Jersey this month.
On December 14, police in Trenton arrested a resident after responding to neighbors’ complaints. According to NJ.com, they found 45 people in the house, where the suspect demanded $ 5 per beer.
Police seized $ 942 in cash and 82 small bags of cocaine.
On Dec. 7, Gov. Phil Murphy lowered the limit on indoor rallies to 25 people, out of 150, in response to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the state.
