With the current version of the Ultimate Edition released last year (and the next generation version delayed thereafter in 2021), many have apparently paid for the game with the goal of waiting to upgrade to the next generation version and to play later. To compound the problem, Ultimate Edition for PS4 was recently discounted in the PS Store, which led to more players buying the game to secure a next upgrade.
However, when the PS5 Ultimate Edition was announced for release on February 2, it was unveiled as a day-and-date release for PS Plus, offering a free download in exchange for the monthly subscription. The move has upset many players who have paid in advance for the next-generation version about announcing a much cheaper purchase method.
PS4 Ultimate Edition is the only way to get a free PS5 upgrade. PS4 Ultimate Edition is offered for sale. Less than 2 weeks later, PS4 Ultimate Edition is free on PS Plus and no refunds will be issued. Shocking behavior from Playstation and Remedy. @PlayStationUK @pushsquare @IGNUK

To address the issues, Remedy then announced that files from the latest generation of Control were being saved could not be passed on to the next generation Ultimate Edition, which means that those who started the game on their old consoles should start all over again on their PS5 or Xbox series console.
Remedy Communications Director explained: “The version of our engine in the next generation Control is very different from the version used in the previous generation Control. Long story short, many changes in things like how we handle data, etc. ” In a separate tweet, he added it save file transfer would not be added to a future patch.
The moves left some fans frustrated by the lack of communication and wanted them to know in advance that they would have to play on the next generation from the start of the game, and that they could even have the version for free as PS. Plus subscribers. Some have requested refunds for their earlier purchase.
@AskPS_UK hey guys, I originally bought the original edition and then platinum it, then the developers said I would have to buy the ultimate edition for the PS5 upgrade, which I did now; it is made free and available for ps plus, will i buy a refund for me?

Many have pointed out that ‘Shark-PG’ Maneater has been added to PS Plus, that subscribers who recently purchased the game will be automatically refunded.
@AskPlayStation so I bought Control Ultimate version less than a week ago for $ 20 in the psn store. I haven’t even played it yet. Waiting for the ps5 upgrade. I do not deserve a refund, just like everyone has a PS + game maneater
